Over 27 years Media World has grown into one of Australia’s foremost independent film and television production companies. With offices in Melbourne and Perth, Media World has successfully developed and produced hundreds of hours of content for both television and the big screen - with major credits in feature films, children’s drama, animation and prime-time television drama.

High profile productions such as the company’s early feature The Silver Brumby starring Russell Crowe, have been seen by audiences all over the world. Media World’s most recent drama credits include the prime time mini-series, The Circuit (winner of Silver Hugo for best international mini-series) and Australia’s first indigenous comedy feature film, Richard J. Frankland’s Stone Bros.

In 1994 Media World diversified into the burgeoning animation market, and established its own animation studio, Animation Works. Media World’s animation credits include: The Silver Brumby; The New Adventures of Ocean Girl and two series of the adult animated sitcom John Callahan’s QUADS! (an international co-production with Canadian company Nelvana).

Media World is currently in production on the second season of its award winning children’s
series, Dogstar.

Colin South – Producer

Media World co-founder Colin South has producer credits across the company’s entire diverse range of film and television credits.

A specialist in the area of animation, Colin has produced more than 100 hours of series programming through the company’s animation production arm, Animation Works.

Colin is the co-creator and supervising producer on the animated comedy series, Dogstar, and is currently in production on a second series of this award-winning children’s program.

Colin also oversees the company’s international presales and distribution.

Ross Hutchens – Producer

Ross currently heads up production and development for Media World Pictures’ live action drama slate, and is the producer of The Circuit, a ground-breaking drama series for SBS Television. His recent credits also include the feature film Stone Bros.

Prior to joining Media World, Ross worked as an independent filmmaker between stints as a funding manager at ScreenWest, and as a project consultant at the Film & Television Institute. Originally trained as a director at the Australian Film Television and Radio School, Ross has directed short films and series drama for television. He has taught screen performance at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts and been nominated for AFI Awards for his scriptwriting, directing and producing.
